I have always found Rabbi Wise’s shiurim interesting and thought provoking. His ability to simplify complex issues facilitates the student’s ability to understand difficult passages in the gmara. הצלחה רבה in this endeavor to open up the gmara to a wider audience.
Still getting over my shock that a “Chofetz Chaim guy” is giving a Daf Yomi Shiur 🙂 . The Shiurim are great! Very clear as to the “movement” in the Gemora. It’s not easy to give great explanation in the time constraints of a Daf Yomi Shiur but Shmuel does it masterfully. Keep up the great work. Hatzlacha Rabba!
I have known Shmuel Wise for about a decade. We are both alumni of TIUNY, yet, though I graduated about 30 years earlier than Shmuel, I consider him somewhat of a Rebbi to me. Being that Shmuel is a member of our TIUNY Kollel, I have had numerous opportunities to listen to shiurim given by Shmuel after our weekly Shabbos hashkamah minyan and his clear and concise explanations have helped me to understand concepts which had otherwise been a bit out of my reach. If you are looking for a daf yomi shiur which will leave you feeling brighter and invigorated then you have come to the right place and chosen the appropriate Rebbi.
Thanks Rabbi Shmuel Wise for this amazing site and for giving me the opportunity to explore other mesechtos other than what my yeshiva is learning. You have given me a way to finish shas “clearly”!
Rabbi Wise does an amazing job of explaining the daf. I find it easy to understand and greatly appreciate what the Rabbi does.
I am amazed at the continual patience of the maggid shiur. No matter the length of the daf, or the difficulty, one never perceives a sense to rush things. This is either an inborn tachuna or a deeply worked on middah. Gadol min halimud is the observation of the character in practice. I think what separates those who teach well and those who don’t is ultimately the genuine interest to be understood. This is a very nice public service.
It says in Pirkei Avos, Who is “Wise” who learns from everyone. The Binah L’itim interprets this to be a Rebbi, a Teacher, because it says, “from my students I learned more than from anyone.” This can be said of Rabbi Shmuel Wise Shlita. He has created an opportunity unavailable on internet to discuss one’s learning with others which will lead to discovery of the truth.
A terrific shiur. Very clear. I consider it among the best on-line daf yomi shiurim.
There’s a lot of spiritual static in the air today but thanks to Rabbi Shmuel Wise, we have RealClearDaf.com to tune in to the emes of learning and progressing in Talmud.
Clear, concise and a joy to listen to, Real Clear Daf is my Talmud fluency tool of choice: I learn the daf deeply and then tune into the downloaded shiur wherever, whenever I choose.
It’s clear to me that the Internet was made for exactly this.
